Commuting Alternatives
Now is the time to plan and try commuting alternatives that will make getting to and from work easier. Although ADOT is making every effort to keep traffic moving smoothly—by re-timing signals and adding a third lane to the frontage roads—periodic delays are likely.
To make your commute more manageable and help reduce the number of vehicles on the road during rush hour, ADOT and the Pima Association of Governments (PAG) recommends that you explore alternatives to driving alone. You may like an alternative so much that you decide to stay with it after construction concludes in 2010.
Here Are Some Suggestions:
- Telecommuting/Working from Home,
whether just for a couple of days or for the whole
week, is the ultimate way to beat traffic and
save money. Speak with your employer to see if
telecommuting would work for you.
- Flextime allows you to avoid
rush hour traffic by commuting during off-peak
hours. Talk with your employer about working out
a different schedule.
- Park & Ride lots are a great
way to avoid congestion. You can park and connect
to a bus, a shuttle or a carpool. You can also
take your bike or even walk from the Park & Ride
lot. Log on to http://www.pagnet.org/rs/parknride.htm
or http://www.suntran.com.
- Sun Tran, Tucson's bus service,
is a relaxing way to commute. Call customer information
