Traffic Operations Center
During the spring of 2007, the Arizona Department of Transportation constructed a state-of-the-art Traffic Operations Center (TOC) dedicated to managing the flow of traffic along the I-10 widening project throughout construction. This is located under the Interstate 19/I-10 interchange. This system includes 72 cameras providing live video from vantage points along both frontage roads and the interstate. This allows for real-time monitoring of traffic conditions 24 hours a day. Miles of fiber optics to support this system were laid while the TOC was being built.
In addition, the TOC has a video wall with ten 50-inch screens that receive live feeds from cameras in the field. Personnel are available round-the-clock to monitor and assist with traffic flow.
